Steven Muncy, MSW, DrPH

Dr. Muncy has served as the Executive Director of CFSI since its inception in 1981. In addition to his work at CFSI, he has been a consultant for the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), the World Bank, governments, and several international and national nongovernmental organizations. Dr. Muncy's work with conflict-affected communities, refugees, and internally displaced persons has involved travel throughout South East and Central Asia, Africa, and Eastern Europe. He has served on the Boards of other civil society organizations in the Philippines and lectured at various universities. A citizen of the United States, Dr. Muncy earned the Bachelor of Social Work degree at James Madison University in Virginia and the Master of Social Work degree at Catholic University in Washington, DC. He earned the Master of Public Health degree and the Doctor of Public Health degree at the University of Philippines. A recipient of a study fellowship at the Refugee Studies Programme at Oxford University in 1994, Dr. Muncy was named an Honorary Associate of the Faculty of Health Sciences at La Trobe University in Melbourne, Australia in 2001.
