CFSI Elected Chair of Pasay City Network

 

CFSI was elected in February 2006 as Chair of the Pasay City Network for the Protection of Children (PCNPC) for the period February 2006 through February 2008. CFSI previously served as the President of this same network for two terms (2002-2004 and 2004-2006). The PCNPC is composed of 23 organizations in Pasay City, Philippines. It includes 16 nongovernment organizations (NGOs) and 7 Government agencies, plus volunteers. The mission of the PCNPC is to:

 

01. Actively advocate for the rights and welfare of abused and exploited children;

02. Assist parents to be aware of their duties and responsibilities;

03. Provide care, support, and protection for sexually exploited children;

04. Remove children from exploitative situations and integrate them into the mainstream of society;

05. Help organize and sustain a functioning barangay council for the protection of children in each barangay;

06. Work for the passage of laws to consider a sexually exploited child as a victim, not an offender; and

07. Work for the implementation of law banning the proliferation of pornographic materials.

 

The CFSI Representative to the PCNPC since 2002 has been, and remains, Programme Officer Ofel Mendoza. Ms. Mendoza earned the Bachelor of Science in Social Work (BSSW) at Sacred Heart College in 1978 and the Master of Social Work (MSW) at the University of the Philippines in 1997. She has extensive experience in child rights and child welfare in the Philippines, as well as four years of experience in the same fields in Viet Nam. Ms. Mendoza, a citizen of the Philippines, has served with CFSI in various capacities since 1999.
